Ahead of the 2027 general and presidential elections, traditional rulers in Akwa Ibom State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for re-election.

Ahead of the 2027 general and presidential elections, traditional rulers in Akwa Ibom State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for re-election.

The endorsement was made at a special rally held on Saturday at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, where traditional rulers from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District publicly declared their support for the trio, citing their developmental achievements and leadership records.

The monarchs, comprising Paramount Rulers, clan heads, village and family heads, as well as their spouses, described the endorsement as a collective decision based on the visible impact of governance at both the federal and state levels.

Speaking at the event, the Itai Afe Annang and Paramount Ruler of Afe Annang, Obong Blaise Awakama, who chaired the rally, said the gathering was historic, noting that it was the first time traditional rulers in the state had come together to formally recognise the achievements of their distinguished sons.

According to him, President Tinubu’s economic reforms have increased funds available to states and local governments for development, while Senator Akpabio’s record as former governor, minister, and now Senate President reflects uncommon leadership and people-oriented legislation, including the Students Loan Act and the establishment of development commissions.

He also praised Governor Umo Eno for promoting peace and inclusive development across Akwa Ibom State, stressing that governance under his administration has reached both urban and rural communities.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council and Paramount Ruler of Abak, His Royal Majesty Akuku Saviour Sylvester Udofia, said the endorsement followed a unanimous voice vote by the council in recognition of the trio’s proven leadership, good governance, and sustained public service.

Receiving the endorsement, Governor Eno described the gesture as unprecedented and expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers for their continued support.

Senator Akpabio, who accepted the endorsement on behalf of himself and President Tinubu, thanked the traditional institution and assured Nigerians that the President remains committed to improving the welfare of citizens nationwide. He also urged traditional rulers to encourage voter registration ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District would deliver increased votes for the endorsed candidates.
