Enugu Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim in Nkanu West

The Police Command in Enugu State has successfully rescued a kidnapped individual (name withheld for security and investigative purposes) in the Ozalla/Umueze area of Nkanu West Local Government Area.

This information was provided in a statement released by the Command’s Spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu on Saturday.

Ndukwe reported that this accomplishment was made possible by police operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad of the command on October 19, 2025, at approximately 11:30 pm.

He noted that the operatives also seized the victim’s Lexus 350 vehicle and a locally made Beretta-like pistol, which was loaded with three live rounds of ammunition and left behind by the fleeing suspects.

Ndukwe stated, “The rescue and recoveries were a result of the operatives’ prompt reaction to a distress call regarding the victim’s abduction in the Awkunanaw area of Enugu.

“The team chased the suspects to the specified location, where they fled, leaving behind the victim and the recovered items.

“Investigations and a manhunt for the escaped suspects are currently underway.

The spokesperson indicated that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Giwa, had praised the operatives for their swift and professional actions.

He mentioned that the commissioner also reiterated the command’s steadfast commitment to continue combating unrepentant criminals within the state.

“The command is encouraging residents to remain law-abiding and to keep providing the police with reliable information,” he added.

ETIMES247 Online reported on Tuesday that the command had demolished a structure purportedly utilized by kidnappers as a hideout and for the detention of victims, in accordance with state laws.

The demolition occurred following the rescue of a kidnapped individual by security operatives from a bungalow located in Umueze Awkunanaw in the Nkanu West Local Government Area. This building was allegedly used by the primary suspect, identified as Igwenagu Ogbodo, along with his gang, to confine their victims.
