The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has urged corps members to refrain from embarking on unauthorized journeys in order to avoid preventable dangers on the highways during their service year.
Speaking at the orientation camp in Edo State while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ corps members, the DG emphasized the need for personal safety and vigilance. His warning was contained in a statement signed by the NYSC spokesperson, Gbenga Fanegane.
Nafiu advised corps members to remain security-conscious at their places of primary assignment and to avoid travelling at night. He also encouraged them to always verify information before sharing it on social media platforms.
“Always get correct information and establish facts before circulating the same on social media platforms,” he said.
The DG further warned corps members to stay away from social vices such as cultism, cybercrime, and thuggery, stressing that such behaviours could endanger their lives and jeopardize their service year.
Earlier, the Edo State Coordinator, Dr. Ifeoma Frances Ben-Ushie, expressed appreciation to the Director-General for providing an enabling environment for both corps members and camp officials.
