The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has instructed its South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee to promptly assume responsibility for the operations of its Cross River chapter.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the committee has been tasked with managing the party’s affairs until the state congress, which is set to take place on Saturday, September 27.
Ologunagba indicated that this directive, given during the NWC meeting on Thursday, follows the conclusion of the tenure of the elected Cross River State Executive Committee on September 18.
He emphasized that this decision aims to prevent any gaps in the party’s operations prior to the establishment of a new state executive for the chapter.
“In this regard, the South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee, led by Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, is instructed to coordinate with the NWC for the organization of the 2025 congress in Cross River, which will elect a new executive committee for the chapter on Saturday, September 27.
“The NWC urges all leaders, stakeholders, and members of our party in Cross River to maintain unity, remain resolute, and continue collaborating for the overall benefit and advancement of our esteemed party in the state,” Ologunagba remarked.
