Katsina State’s governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced a comprehensive initiative against corruption at the grassroots level, emphasizing that no government policy can thrive unless councillors take the initiative in promoting integrity and due process in local governance.
Governor Radda made this announcement during the launch of the 2025 Sensitisation Campaign on Anti-Corruption, Due Process, and Effective Monitoring of Public Policies, where councillors convened in Katsina.
“Corruption has consistently been one of the most significant barriers to our advancement. It depletes resources, undermines public confidence, and diminishes the quality of service delivery. With councillors acting as vigilant overseers, corruption will have no place in our communities,” Radda stated.
The Governor characterized councillors as the primary defense against corruption, emphasizing their responsibility to ensure that community projects are carried out in accordance with due process, resources are managed effectively, and public trust is upheld.
Radda encouraged the councillors to view the sensitisation campaign as more than just an event, but as a pivotal responsibility that aligns with his administration’s “Building a Future Strategic Policy Plan.”
He underscored the importance of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), which he noted has been empowered as an independent entity to investigate corruption, educate the public, and work in partnership with stakeholders.
He commended the Commission’s dedication and recognized the contributions of partners like the Community Development Programmes (CDP) and the Business and Development Management Board, which he highlighted as having enhanced accountability and transparency in governance.
The Governor further stressed that integrity is the most powerful tool against corruption, pointing out that each act of honesty fortifies the state, while the abuse of power erodes public trust.
“Together, through the combined efforts of our administration’s policies and the initiatives of the Anti-Corruption Commission, we will ensure a future characterized by accountability, fairness, and shared prosperity for our citizens,” Radda stated.
