The Kano State Government has said the lingering leadership crisis in the Kano Emirate is nearing an end, with efforts underway to resolve the matter through dialogue and mutual understanding.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Kano, noting that some of the contenders are expected to voluntarily step down in the interest of peace and unity.
Waiya said the crisis, which is currently before the court, would be resolved amicably, adding that all parties involved are now ready to place the interest of Kano State above personal considerations.
According to him, other outstanding issues would be addressed through sustained engagement and dialogue to restore harmony within the Emirate.
The commissioner also commented on recent political developments in the state, saying that if he were in the position of the Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, he would have resigned, citing the defection of most members of the State Executive Council to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
