The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the renaming of Khadijah University, Majia, to Jigawa State University of Medical and Applied Health Sciences.
This decision was made during the council’s meeting on December 24, 2025, and is pending approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
According to a press statement from the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, the renaming aligns with the current administration’s commitment to expanding access to medical and applied health sciences education for the youth of Jigawa State.
The initiative aims to equip students with the skills necessary for careers in medicine, healthcare, and related fields, addressing workforce demands in the health sector.
