Abba Yusuf has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide modern firefighting equipment following a major fire outbreak at Singer Market.
The governor made the appeal during a visit to the affected Gidan Gilas section of the market in Kano, where shops and properties were destroyed by the inferno.
Yusuf commended the efforts of the Kano State Fire Service and security agencies responding to the incident, while urging traders and residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency teams.
He also requested air support and advanced firefighting tools to improve emergency response capacity in major commercial centres across the state.
