The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Oyo State, Adebiyi Adedapo, has joined the Muslim community in mourning the death of the revered Islamic scholar, Shaykh Surajudeen Akanni Arizukuna (Asukuna).
In a statement personally signed by him, Adedapo expressed deep grief over the loss, describing the Shaykh’s passing as an irreplaceable loss to his family, the Asukuna compound, and the entire Muslim community.
According to him, the late scholar had a profound impact on religious and community life, and his contributions to Islamic education and moral guidance were widely acknowledged across the region.
“The late Shaykh’s impact on religious and community life was profound. His contributions to Islamic education and moral guidance are widely acknowledged across the region. May Allah grant his family, loved ones, and the entire Muslim Ummah the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“The Asukuna family is my maternal home, and I will always identify as one of them. I can say that we are all proud of his achievements and of what he did for the family, to the glory of Ibadan and Oyo State in general,” he said.
Adedapo commiserated with the Mogaji of the Asukuna Clan, Alhaji Taofeek Ayinde Asukuna, Ibadan indigenes, and the Muslim community at large over the loss of the respected Islamic cleric.
Shaykh Surajudeen was celebrated for his selfless service, profound Islamic knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the moral and spiritual upliftment of his community. His teachings and guidance touched countless lives across Oyo State and beyond, earning him widespread respect among scholars, family members, and associates.
Until his demise, he served as the National Chief Missioner of Hizbullah International Prayer Ministry and held the title of Amir Zakireen of Oyo State.
