Dangote Refinery has said the two-day strike action by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, did not disrupt its operations “for a second”.
This comes as the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery hailed President Bola Tinubu and Federal Government officials for their intervention to halt the PENGASSAN strike.
The company made this known in a lengthy appreciation statement released on its X account Sunday.
According to the oil firm, the tireless intervention of President Tinubu, his ministers and senior officials resulted in the abatement of the disruption of PENGASSAN’s strike actions.
“Dangote Refinery is grateful to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, HE Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his intervention, through his ministers and senior officials, which resulted in the abatement of the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the refinery.
“Amongst the officials of the Federal Republic who worked tirelessly to roll back the lawless directives of PENGASSAN and restore sanity and order to the energy subsector were Nigeria’s Security Chiefs, made up of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Director General of the Department of State Security, Mr Adeola Toyin Ajayi; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mr Mohammed Mohammed.”
The refinery noted that the unalloyed allegiance of its workers prevented disruption “even for a second”.

You proved your allegiance to our cause these several days even in the face of the provocative and inciting comments of and directives from detractors and naysayers who do not wish us and indeed Nigeria well,” the oil firm stated.
The Ibeju Lekki-based refinery finally thanked Nigerians for their solidarity, noting the Dangote Group is Nigeria’s largest private employer of labour and largest contributor to Nigeria’s tax revenues.
Recall that PENGASSAN declared a strike against Dangote Refinery over the mass sacking of Nigerian workers.
The strike action lasted for two days following the intervention of the Federal Government, with both PENGASSAN and Dangote Refinery reaching a truce.
