APC Chieftain Umar Moriki Killed by Gunmen in Zamfara

A senior All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Zamfara State, Umar Moriki, has been shot dead by suspected bandits.

The attack occurred on the Gusau–Tsafe highway, near Fegi village in Tsafe Local Government Area, as Moriki was returning from a party meeting in the state capital, Gusau.

The Zamfara APC described his death as a major loss, noting that Moriki had been deeply involved in both party politics and public service.

During his life, he held several key roles, including Vice-Chairman of Zurmi LGA, Director-General of a state agency, and Special Adviser on Rural Electrification.

He was 62 years old, and is survived by three wives and several children.

The APC called on security agencies for urgent action, highlighting the continued risk political figures face in parts of Zamfara plagued by banditry.
