On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump announced that the leadership of Hamas has a limited timeframe of “three or four days” to make a decision regarding his recently introduced peace plan for Gaza.
While speaking to journalists prior to his departure from the White House, Trump emphasized that both Israeli and Arab leaders have already expressed their support for the initiative, leaving Hamas as the only group yet to respond.
“We’re just waiting for Hamas,” Trump remarked. “They have approximately three or four days. Hamas will either accept the plan or reject it, and if they choose the latter, it will lead to a very unfortunate conclusion.”
When questioned about the possibility of renegotiating the plan, Trump was straightforward: “Not much.”
According to the ETIMES247 the US proposal, which was unveiled at the White House on Monday, includes provisions for the release of all hostages within 72 hours, the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, and the establishment of a transitional technocratic authority to oversee governance.
As part of the agreement, Hamas members who willingly surrender their arms would receive amnesty.
Hamas negotiators are currently reviewing the proposal, with mediators from Qatar and Egypt anticipated to provide an official response shortly.
