NOA Launches Security Sensitisation Campaign in Katsina Border Communities

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched a security sensitisation campaign across border communities in Katsina State as part of efforts to address rising insecurity.

The Katsina State Director of the agency, Alhaji Muntari Lawal-Tsagem, disclosed this on Monday at the launch of the campaign in Jibia Local Government Area. He said the initiative is aimed at educating residents on cross-border crimes and encouraging them to support government efforts to curb insecurity.

According to him, the campaign covers Jibia, Kaita, Mashi, Mai’adua, Zango and Baure local government areas, which are prone to criminal infiltration due to their proximity to international borders.

Lawal-Tsagem explained that criminals often take advantage of festive periods to enter the country through illegal border routes. He said such elements include smugglers of illicit drugs and arms, as well as other criminal groups that pose serious security threats.

He appealed to residents of the affected communities to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or movements to security agencies for timely intervention.

The NOA director also urged residents to be patriotic and law-abiding, calling on parents to protect their children from drug abuse and other behaviours that could lead them into criminal activities.

He further appealed to community and religious leaders to promote peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among residents, while commending Governor Dikko Radda for his sustained efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.
