The Kano State Government has approved ₦3.3 billion for the implementation of water supply and energy projects aimed at improving access to clean and safe drinking water across the state.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this in a statement issued to the press.
According to the statement, the approved projects include the construction of a modern water treatment plant at Taliwaiwai in Rano Local Government Area, as well as the payment of electricity and fuel costs used by the Kano State Water Board to ensure uninterrupted operations.
The government also approved funds for the settlement of outstanding electricity bills owed to KEDCO, and for the supply of diesel (AGO) and petrol (PMS) required to operate water treatment plants and other water facilities across urban and rural areas of the state.
The statement added that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to strengthening public infrastructure and ensuring sustainable water supply for both domestic and industrial use.
This initiative will guarantee steady access to clean water, improve energy efficiency, and enhance the living standards of the people of Kano State,” the statement said.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing projects that directly impact the well-being of citizens and to continuing investment in infrastructure development across the state.
